Questions people ask · By the hour
How does hiring a chauffeur by the hour work in Montréal?
You book a car and chauffeur for a block of time, usually at least 3 hours, and the car stays with you between stops. In 2026, published rates for a full-size SUV run about $100 to $150 an hour before tax. It beats separate rides when you have three or more stops, tight timing, or bags that stay in the car.

How it works
- Minimum: most companies require 3 hours. Example: Royalmount
- Rate: about $100 to $150 an hour for a full-size SUV. Example: Montreal Limousine Services
- Time counts from the booked pickup to the final drop-off; ask how extra time is billed.
- Tax: 14.975% (GST + QST) on top, unless included.
When it's the right choice
- Roadshows and client visits with three or more meetings. Read the roadshow guide
- Weddings, galas and events where the car must wait outside.
- Shopping or sightseeing days where bags stay in the car.
- Grand Prix weekend, when finding a ride between venues is hard. Grand Prix guide

Can the chauffeur wait while I'm in a meeting?
Yes: that's what hourly hire is for. The car stays with you for the whole booking.
Is by the hour cheaper than separate trips?
With one or two trips, separate bookings are usually cheaper. From three stops, or when timing is tight, hourly hire often costs about the same and removes the waiting.
