Landing in Montréal from abroad: from the gate to your car
After an international flight into Montréal-Trudeau, you go through a primary inspection kiosk with your passport, then a border officer, then baggage. You can fill in the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN up to 72 hours before landing, which CBSA says cuts kiosk time by about a third. There's no official figure for how long it all takes, so book a driver who follows your landing and waits.

The steps after landing
- Kiosk: scan your passport, take a photo (fingerprints for some foreign nationals and permanent residents), answer a few questions, take the receipt. Up to five travellers from the same household can use one kiosk together. ADM
- Show the kiosk receipt to a border services officer. ADM
- Collect your bags, then exit to the arrivals hall.
Save time
- Advance Declaration (ArriveCAN): optional, submitted up to 72 hours before arrival; CBSA says it cuts time at the kiosk by roughly a third. Not usable with NEXUS kiosks. CBSA
- Keep passports and your address in Canada ready before the kiosk.
- Delays before you even leave the plane can come from gate availability, weather or ground staffing. ADM
Meeting your ride
- Taxi or app: request it once you have your bags.
- Pre-booked chauffeur: give the flight number; the driver follows the landing and waits while you clear customs. Text when you're at baggage claim.
