YUL or MET: which Montréal airport should you fly from?

Montréal now has two passenger airports. Montréal–Trudeau (YUL) in Dorval has every airline and all international flights. Montréal Metropolitan (MET, formerly Saint-Hubert) in Longueuil has Porter and Pascan domestic flights, no customs and a smaller terminal. If your flight exists from both, choose by where you start: MET for the South Shore and east-end, YUL for the West Island and Laval.

  • West Island, Dorval, Laval, the West: YUL is closer.
  • International trip or connection: YUL; MET has no customs.
  • Connecting between the two: allow at least 45 minutes by car between terminals; we drive MET ↔ YUL from about $143 in Business Sedan.

Is MET cheaper to reach than YUL?

From downtown, a private car costs the same to both ($116 in Business Sedan, tax included). From the South Shore, MET is shorter and usually cheaper.

Can I connect from a MET flight to an international flight at YUL?

Yes, on separate tickets: allow time for the 45-minute drive, check-in and security. We can drive you directly between the two.
